Golf
The game of golf was created for the weekend. To me there is no better way to spend the weekend. The best part of golf is that it is played outdoors. You can play alongside the ocean, in the mountains, in the valleys and even among the trees. On some courses wildlife is abundant. I have seen wild boars, lynx, snakes, deer and many bird species. Once I had to wait while a herd of ten cows crossed a fairway I was playing.
If you choose to walk, exercise is also a benefit of golf. On the average course, a good golfer can walk approximately four miles. I, however, manage to get five to five and a half miles of walking in during my round.
Golf is also a game of integrity, trust, honesty and patience. Practice will improve your game. Being loose with the rules will not.
Golf is an individual game. You are the master of your game. Some of my most memorable times in golf had nothing to do with my final score but more about a particular good shot or having a good time with friends.
Golf is a social game. It can be played with friends; family or strangers and all of you have a common goal. You can learn a lot about people while playing golf with them. Personalities have been known to change in an instant.
Best of all, golf can be played for a lifetime.
