HANDICAP
Arizona Golf Association
Arizona Golf Association
For the Rules of Handicapping please refer to USGA.org
To All Members:
For the Handicap system to work as intended and in fairness to our fellow golfers it is necessary that we post all of our games played that meet all the following requirements:
- followed an authorized format of play over the minimum number of holes 9 or 18 (see Rule 2.2)
- played in the company of least one other person
- played by the Rules of Golf (Rule 2.1b)
- on a course with a current Course and Slope Rating
- on a golf course during its active season (AZ is all year)
Posting all scores is the only way to accurately measure a player's potential.
Basic information for League Play:
Handicaps from the 1st and 15th are used for League Play. These Handicaps are posted in the back office and on the weekly flight sheets.
Players are required to post all 9 and 18 hole scores with USGA and on the same day whenever possible. This may be done on your home computer or on your phone, through the USGA app.
When posting your gross score be sure to post your correct adjusted score, using the Net Double Bogey formula. (Par + 2 + any Handicap strokes you receive for that hole.) If you are unsure of this formula please refer to the Handicap Table by Hole, located in the office. NOTE: Your adjusted score may be different then your gross score for Play of the Day.
New Members:
- For those who do not have a Golf Handicap Index Network (GHIN) number or an established USGA Handicap Index you will need to submit at least three score cards from any regulation 18-hole Sun City golf course to the Handicap Chairperson and you will be issued a temporary handicap.
- If you have a current USGA Handicap Index you may be transferred immediately and will be eligible for all competition.
If you have questions or concerns please feel free to contact the Handicap Chair - Karen Smolinski.
